Back from vacation and new review

by admin — last modified Jul 18, 2006 12:00 AM

After a couple of relaxing weeks up north in Norway it's back to work. I'm preparing for the Norwegian release of Serendipity and the other artist I'm producing. Also check out the review of my CD on this Brazillian site.

Set in Motion

by admin — last modified May 09, 2006 12:00 AM

After spending a lot of time on my "real job" at Trolltech and their new web, I am now ready to get started on the Norwegian release. This takes a lot of planning - and quite a lot of money - but it now appears as if I can be able to release Serendipity in Norwegian record shops before the summer.

The "Bonden" project - the other musician I'm producing, is also on it's way - release here is likely in the autumn, sometime.

Quiet days?

by admin — last modified Mar 11, 2006 12:00 AM

You probably think that when it takes some time for me to post blogs it's because there are quiet days in Finn Arild Music. Not so - there's so much to do that I've hardly had time to follow up on my recording blog.

In addition to coming back to my dayjob again, I have been busy producing an album for Bonden. This will be a folk/rock/western album with humorous lyrics in Norwegian. My own album release: Serendipity, has been put on hold while I finish these other tasks.

In addition, I've been setting up websites for my producer - Quille, his wife at Sørumsand Gullsmed and his brother at Warå Mølle.

Serendipity up on iTunes

by admin — last modified Jan 22, 2006 12:00 AM

Serendipity is now available on iTunes. It has taken some time during the Christmas rush, but now it's finally up there. CDBaby is now working on several other digital distribution channels. Hopefully they will be available soon.

Meanwhile I'm back to my dayjob in Trolltech as the webmaster. This doesn't mean I'm through with music. I'm currently writing songs for what I believe will be my second album. I'm also producing Bonden together with Tor Øyvind Quille.

A brave new year

by admin — last modified Jan 05, 2006 12:00 AM

Recently back from two weeks in Thailand I am soon due to go back to my dayjob. The last 4 months as a full-time musician has been great and a long-term goal is to be able to make it permanent.

This year will hopefully bring lots of sales for Serendipity, as well as success for the other projects I'm working on as producer, musician and songwriter.

Serendipity on sale

by admin — last modified Dec 08, 2005 12:00 AM

Finally the waiting time is over. You can now buy Serendipity directly from me or via CDBaby. European users will get faster and cheaper delivery from me, while US users will save on the transport since CDBaby is located "over there".

As you see on the timestamp it's pretty late (or early) now. I've been sitting up all night to get everything up. The webpages has been changed quite a bit too - there's more work to be done there too - but that will have to wait till tomorrow. Now it's sleeping-time.

The Waiting Time

by admin — last modified Dec 05, 2005 12:00 AM

orry about the long blog delays, I really haven't got any good excuse. After all this work I find myself waiting for the first time in this project. For CDBaby to put up my CD, For iTunes to put the album up and other things.

Meanwhile I'm producing a Norwegian folk/rock album by Bonden. Songs are being recorded in Quilles Recording Studio and progress is good.

I'll be back with a blog entry as soon as "Serendipity" is available for sale.

Album preview up

by admin — last modified Nov 03, 2005 12:00 AM

I am very busy these days, but I still managed to put together an album preview of Serendipity for you.

I have read and checked the cover art 200 times now and have hopefully removed all mistakes. It's going to the printers now, so there's nothing more to be done about that.

In between I have even managed to make some new music. Plans for the next album is taking root - I even have a title for it :-)

New web system

by admin — last modified Oct 31, 2005 12:00 AM

I have set up Drupal as my new Content Management System (CMS). Now I can edit contents online and that will hopefully result in a more active blog and more frequently updated pages.

As soon as the CD has come from the printing I will put up some previews for you - you can see how the cover will look like on the new discography page.

The Serendipity master is now done and I am waiting for some details to be nailed down with my publisher (I will come back to that when the deal is done) before I send it off to printing. Lately I have been working with this website, making some new music - and planning the production of Traktorspor with Bonden - a Norwegian artist I have signed together with Tor Øyvind Quille.

So - I went out this morning and came back with the master listening copy of my album. The mastering was done by Fridtjof A. Lindeman at Lydmuren in Oslo.

Last weeks we've been busy mixing. I'll listen to the results this weekend, but I can already say that this album is everything I hoped it would be and more. However many copies I'll sell, it's something I'm proud of.

As soon as the producer and I have passed the master I'll put out some previews for you to listen to. Keep watching this space!

Cover art

by admin — last modified Sep 28, 2005 12:00 AM

I do virtually everything on this release myself, including cover art. My lovely wife Elin has taken the pictures. I'll be setting up a discography with previews of the album soon - including lyrics.

The saga continues

by admin — last modified Sep 25, 2005 12:00 AM

We're well into the mixing now. We'll have a finished master in a couple of weeks - in the meantime I'm busy setting up the cover (yes, I'm doing virtually everything on this release) and doing all the other stuff needed like arranging promotion and distribution and what have you.

Starting to mix

by admin — last modified Sep 05, 2005 12:00 AM

The mixing is starting now. We set up the first 4 songs today (1 is already done; "Take Two ..."), and will set up more tomorrow. Tor Øyvind Quille is doing the sound, levels, eq and the "real mixing", but I've layed out some leads to follow.

We both use the same brand of software; I use Steinberg Cubase SX 3 and he uses Nuendo 3, so the projects have already gone forth and back on my 40G iPod. Good thing I have that - the whole record is pushing 9 gig now - lots of unused files, though - but I've kept it all. You never know when you need it, and diskspace is cheap.
